The Historic Legacy of the RomWeber Party Place

Nestled in the heart of Batesville, Indiana, the RomWeber Party Place is a 14,000-square-foot event venue that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern amenities. Located in a building listed on the National Historic Registry, the Party Place stands as a testament to the city’s rich industrial heritage and commitment to historic preservation.

The story of this remarkable space dates back to 1863, when the Greeman Brothers founded their cabinet company in the very building that now houses the Party Place. Over time, three other prominent furniture manufacturers—American Furniture Company, Batesville Cabinet Company, and Batesville Coffin Company—also operated on this historic campus. Eventually, these companies merged, laying the foundation for what would become the RomWeber Furniture Company, a nationally recognized brand known for its craftsmanship and quality.

For more than a century, the RomWeber Furniture Company produced fine furniture in this very building, leaving behind a legacy of skilled artistry and industrial innovation. Today, that legacy is preserved in the venue’s original architectural elements, including virgin timber flooring, hand-hewn post beams, and factory-era lighting fixtures. While history echoes through its structure, the Party Place also offers modern conveniences such as air conditioning and updated amenities, making it a premier event space.

Historic preservation remains a core value of the RomWeber Party Place. When portions of the original complex were repurposed for the RomWeber Flats senior living apartments, salvaged crossbeams from the demolition were carefully incorporated into the venue’s design. These reclaimed materials now form the rich wood paneling in the bar and groom’s lounge, while the makeup counter in the bridal suite was crafted from the same historic beams—ensuring that pieces of the building’s past continue to play a role in its future.
